Why Is My Washing Machine Not Draining?

Common causes:

• Blocked drain hose. Kinks or lint stop water leaving the drum.
• Clogged filter. Many machines have a drain filter that collects coins, lint and threads.
• Failed drain pump. If you hear no pump sound, or a humming noise, the pump may need replacing.
• Control fault. A faulty board or lid or door switch can stop the cycle.

Unplug the machine before checking. Look for kinks in the hose and clean the drain filter if your model has one. If water still stays in the drum, book a repair.
